I’ve watched over Finnish symphonic power metal band Celesty since first hearing them on their debut CD entitled ‘Reign of elements’. That CD was released back in 2002. After that, vocalist Kimmo Perämäki left the band and was replaced by current singer Antti Railio. 2004’s sophomore effort, ‘Legacy of hate’ followed in the same footsteps of the debut, and with the addition of a better vocalist who brings more melody and passion; the release was just as good as ‘Reign of elements’. The only downside so far was that the 2 CDs were both quite repetitive and similar to each other, and the band were yet to seriously move forward in progression Continue Reading

The Scorpions will launch their ‘Get your Sting and Blackout’ World Tour beginning with seven concerts in Germany in May, 2010. The tour will coincide with the release of the legendary rock band’s 20th studio album.
Read the official statement from The Scorpions:
It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you – whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!
We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you.
And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!
See you on the world tour,
Yours
Scorpions

In this day and age of empty trends and vapid flavor-of-the-week bands, the average American metal fan can become a bit of a Nihilist, waiting for a Message From Beyond that the old ways are returning. Just when we think that the Circle is Broken, along comes Sinister Realm, the next defenders of the 80s sound and attitude. With their self-titled debut album, this leather-clad quintet has given us a seamless blend of hallowed traditional metal and dark doom, a classic sound for the modern age Continue Reading

Yep, the many major progressive metal fans that have been raving about this CD for the last few months were right…
I don’t really consider myself a progressive metal fan since I only dabble in the genre, so I passed on getting into Seventh Wonder when they first entered the metal world. I barely gave their debut ‘Become’ and 2nd CD ‘Waiting in the wings’ a glance as they were released, but after seeing tons of praise for their 3rd CD ‘Mercy Falls’, I decided to head off and do some serious and attentive listening of samples. Something about what I heard was calling for me to give this band a chance, so I quickly grabbed all 3 of their CDs, with my fingers crossed Continue Reading
