Fist-pumping Rock is what you can expect from Australia’s newest rising stars, Airbourne. This band catapulted onto the the world stage with their debut album Runnin’ Wild in a matter of weeks. And it’s not hard to see why they have attracted a legion of mature aged fans aswell as the young; with their down and dirty, true spirited rock’n'roll attitude and AC/DC inspired rhythms. Whether it be at a party in your living-room or at a live concert, it wont be long before you have your own fists in the air and foot stomping to the energizing tunes of Airbourne!
Airbourne are clearly riding on the same road as AC/DC. Where AC/DC took oldschool rock’n'roll to another level – powering the sound with high voltage electric guitars and rough vocals – you can say Airbourne have taken on the task of evolutionizing the style further. If its even possible! The album production is well polished, the songs are originals and there is a refreshing quality to the music that keeps you wanting to play the album over and over.
If killers like the hard-hitting and anthemic ‘Stand Up For Rock’N'Roll’ doesn’t do it for you, or belters like ‘Diamond In The Rough’ and ‘Girls In Black’ don’t rekindle your fire for rock, then the adrenaline pumpers ‘Runnin’ Wild’ and ‘Black Jack’ will have you scrambling for a beer in no time. Fans of AC/DC can be assured that they will love Airbourne. It’s not easy to draw a line between the two bands and describe the differences, Airbourne unashamedly borrow from AC/DC and it can even be seen on the cover artwork… where the quartet are seen breaking out of prison and a prison guard is poised, aiming a bullet to their backs. Jailbreak anyone?
However, it is the true spirited rock music and the energies the band execute when playing on stage that has Airbourne recieving well earned respect. The raspy and unique vocals add considerably to the quality of the music, the engrosing riffs and simple, yet effective songwriting style of Airbourne is well balanced and shoud appeal to all generations of hard rock fans.
